Yep-except when they charge for every color for rank and adding stripes and other colors along the way.

I would agree with the stripes which are generally just tape. As far as every color, that depends on the cost, if the student gets a belt and a certificate and maybe even a frame for the cert. then I think a small fee is warranted, especially if you teach for free. My brother and I did this just to cover the cost of the above mentioned items but of course we didn't profit from it.

I didn't see all the responces to this issue but I'll say that a McDojo (or McDojang) is a product of the business enviroment of the west. If there were no need for them (student clammering to pay $300/month for 2 classes/week), they would not exist. Think of it this way, all the fluff goes to the McDojang's of the world leaving all the more serious students for all the rest.

I tell my students not to bring down other schools, but to lift up our own. In other words, I don't have to worry about what other schools are doing - I got my hands full here!

A nice concept with the flaw of others creating bad vibs abd image, and others looking too strong to a point of over bearing attitude with ego.

Note: No offense to you, yor school, or another, I was making a random statement.

No offence taken.

I can only control what happen in my school - and that somedays seems to be more than I can handle.

It is a shame, that the good has to suffer from the bad.
