Thats absolutely correct Mike, and one of the points I was trying to make...but the major point I was saying was that Tai Sabaki is NOT like parrying...parrying is a deflective type of BLOCKING technique, and is completely unrelated to body shifting. Can they be done together ?...YES, of course they can, but, they are two totally different things altogether.

So can a parry. People often think of a parry as a block. Parry is to envade.

I respectfully disagree. Parry is not only to block, it is to evade. You are loking at it to far into one martial art method. In some styles i had studied, parry was to evade. Also done without touching.
